IOM – College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) Linkage Program

Institute of Medicine (IOM) and College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 1998 with the aim to collaborate and develop Medical Education. Later realizing the need to make a wider collaborative effort a separate MoU was also signed by the Chancellor of Tribhuvan University and President of CPSP in 2001.
Since the establishment of CPSP Kathmandu Regional Centre in 1999, its objective was to uplift Medical Education in the country through various programs and activities. In regard to this FCPS – I exam, Mandatory Workshops, Accreditation of hospitals were conducted periodically. Besides these the theory papers of Intermediate Module (IMM) and FCPS – II exams were also conducted in Kathmandu. In addition exchange of examiners between IOM, other institutions and CPSP is also taken place and is observed as a key part of the program as well.
CPSP has been very gracious for honoring 15 senior Nepalese Doctors with Honorary Fellowship in light of their academic, social service and vast clinical accomplishment. Under this program, 18 hospitals are accredited as training centers both in Kathmandu and Chitwan. More training centers will be added in future in Kathmandu and in different parts of the country as well.In addition, as part of exchange of examiners between IOM and CPSP, several Senior Pakistani doctors have visited Kathmandu on the invitation by IOM and on invitation by CPSP many senior Nepalese doctors from Institute of Medicine and several other hospitals have visited Pakistan for clinical exams.
