BACKGROUND
Tribhuvan University, Biratnagar Nursing Campus is one of the historical constituent campus in province 1. It has its own land with College building, Hostel building, Administrative building, Teachers and employee quarter, separate visiting hall. Koshi Zonal Hospital, the major clinical area of campus located nearby in walking distance. There is MOU between the TU IOM and Ministry of Health. There is good relationship between campus and hospital. His Majesty’s Government of Nepal, Ministry of Health established ANM training school in the year 2023 BS at Biratnagar. Later in 2029 BS, this programme was handed over to Tribhuvan University, the institute of Medicine. From 2037BS, Proficiency Certificate Level Nursing programme was started. In 2068/69, this campus began the Bachelor in Nursing Programme. Now upgraded into 3 years Bachelor in nursing science (BNS) Programme. Biratnagar Nursing Campus has an outstanding history of being ranked as the number of college of Nepal. It has record of cent percent pass result in PCL and BNS programme. Both programme are lunched in annual system. . Now it is established as a well-known Campus in Province one in terms of quality production. Hundred percent theoretical classes are held according to Master Calendar of Operation. Clinical practice site is Koshi Zonal Hospital, quality practices are carried out in different department of KZH. Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been done between Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and the institute of Medicine (IOM).
Biratnagar nursing campus has separate buildings for administration, academic purpose and hostel for students. There are three separate buildings for residential purpose. Among them campus chief quarter is completely damaged and other two are in use by maintenance. There are 4 separate laboratories for student skill development namely fundamental lab, skill lab, biochemistry lab and community lab.
Biratnagar Nursing Campus has become one of the pioneer educational institutes in Nepal since its establishment. Nursing profession is mainly centralized in female gender. So it has also key role women empowerment and self-reliance. The products are engaged in renounced institute/hospital /NGO/INGO inside the country and abroad with attractive payment. In addition to educational activities, nursing students take part actively in extracurricular activities in indoor and outdoor competitive games. Different health related days are celebrated in campus.
Nursing is a profession and it is the combination of art and science so there is more chances of getting job immediately. This profession has high social recognition and practical implication. So there is great scope in hospital, campus, community, industries and schools. Nursing profession has significant role in achieving Millennium Development goals (MDGs) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). TU, Biratnagar Nursing Campus intends to be an Academic Centre of excellence through the Foundation of nursing, nursing research, Educational Science and Management.
VISION
The vision of the Biratnagar Nursing campus is to establish as a leading institution in Province 1 through higher education, innovative research, collaboration with stakeholders and community participation.
MISSION
The mission of the Biratnagar Nursing Campus is to produce nursing graduates equipped with knowledge, attitude, practice in nursing practice, research, education and leadership and management who can provide service to individual, family and community through innovation, application, integration and dissemination of knowledge.
GOAL
The goal of Biratnagar Nursing Campus is to ensure excellence in all academic program to advance nursing knowledge and practice, enhance sustainable economic development, ensure quality of education, increase faculty, funding for research through partnership with deferent stakeholders.
OBJECTIVES
The major objectives of the Biratnagar Nursing Campus are:
- Develop quality education by critical thinking, competencies and self-reliance.
- Construct physical infrastructure for class room, research activities, laboratories, library, teachers and administration.
- Develop Research Management Cell equipped with advanced IT and documentation (Journal publication, Journal Club, Dissemination).
- Communicate the rules, regulations, new updates to staff time to time
- Evaluate regularly each individual and department according to job description in observable and measurable term
- Create gender friendly activities (Environment, furniture, toilet, ramp, wheel chair etc.)
- Provide opportunity to each individual for capacity building training, higher education, in-service education
- Collaborate with stakeholders for economical, educational and infrastructure development
- Enhance sustainable economic development through collaboration with local governance, province governance, UGC, HEP, QAA.
- Develop internal income source through multipurpose building, extending quota of student.
- Establish own campus as training center.
- Develop disaster preparedness plan for campus.
- Construct the buildings according to the standard of Urban Development Plan
- Provide training to students, employees and teachers in disaster management and handling(Triage)

- 1. Proficiency Certificate Nursing (PCL) Program
Objective: The objective of the PCL Nursing Program is to prepare a competent and self-reliant nurse who will be able to care for individuals, groups and communities according to the principles of primary health care.

Admission Criteria
Candidates must passed SLC/SEE level with 50% or above including Mathematics, Health Science, and English with GPA C or above including math, Health, Science and English ) and must pass the entrance examination conducted by Institute of Medicine.
2. Post Basic Bachelor of Nursing Program:
1. Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNS)
Objective: The objective of the Bachelor of Nursing Program is to produce middle level nursing providers and leaders who are capable of independent judgment, functioning in a leadership positions in the hospital and community; teaching the junior students and conduct research in areas in of nursing.

Admission Requirements
Candidates must have passed PCL Nursing Program from recognized institutes by securing minimum of 50% marks, must have at least one year of working experience in nursing after getting license to practice from Nepal Nursing Council (NNC) and must pass the entrance examination conducted by Institute of Medicine.
