Prof. Bharat Mani Pokharel

Research Department was established in March 2, 2008 by Dean, Institute of Medicine to strengthen research in the institute. Director of Research Department appointed by Dean will implement the decision of Research Committee and coordinate the research activities between the Dean of IOM, and other concerned bodies such as IRB, Campus Chief of Maharajgunj Campus and others.

Objectives of Research Department

To activate and promote research activities of various Campuses and their Departments

To provide technical expertise as per their need

To conduct research methodology workshops and trainings for faculties and post graduate students

To build up collaboration in research with various national and international organizations

To identify and explore research areas.

To support teaching/learning activities.

To monitor the progress of enrolled research work in the institute

To help in the publication of research articles

· Fourteen Research Proposals approved for In-house grant of Dean's Office / Maharajgunj Campus Institute of Medicine (IOM), TU

MBBS Doctor Follow-up study (MBBS study) MOU between Institute of Medicine, Maharajgunj (IOM), TU and Nick Simons Institute (NSI)

 

· Protocol for evaluating the introduction of reuse-prevention (RUP) reconstitution syringes in

two districts of Nepal MOU between Institute of Medicine, UNICEF and Child Health Division

 

· Research Conference on Health Science, Institute of Medicine – March 2, 2009

Total 47 research papers were presented in the conference. Majority of them were from Institute of Medicine and some from BPKIHS, Dharan, Nepal Medical College, KIST Medical college and UCMS, Bhairahawa.

The First, Second and the Third best scientific papers were selected among those presented in the conference by its’ judges comprising of Senior Professors.

This august gathering of academicians, researchers and scholars together in one platform gave an opportunity to share their research outcomes, knowledge and experiences.

Audience of Research Conference on Health Science

· Symposium on Infection Control – Sept. 23, 2009


An half day symposium on Infection Control was jointly organized by Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital(TUTH), Institute of Medicine(IOM) and International Medical Centre of Japan (IMCJ) through Research Department, Deans’ office, IOM on September 23, 2009 at IOM, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu.

 

This symposium was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Arun Sayami, Dean, Institute of Medicine, T.U.

Total of 7 papers were presented by the experts of Vietnam, Japan and Nepal. Brief discussion was held among Experts, Executive Director, TUTH and Matron of TUTH regarding possible future collaboration for the prevention and control of Infectious diseases in TUTH.
