Bachelor of Science
in Radiological technology is a 3 academic years combined course of
Radiodiagnostic imaging technology, including nuclear medicine, and
radiationtherapy, technology. The development of Medicalnces in the
last few decades has to a great extent been the development of newer
imaging technologies. It is a branch of modern medical sciences without
which medical science remains incomplete. In this regard institute of
Medicine started PCL radiography in 1972. Due to the need of more qualified
health professional the IOM started to train Bachelor Level students
in Radiological Technology since December 2000.
Philosophy
The Bachelor
of Science in radiological Technology B.Sc, RT. Course aims to produce
Professional Graduates in Radiological Technology skilled, creative
in nature and self reliant in performing the quality radiographs. They
should have good knowledge of maintaining department of raidology including
radiotherapy and nuclear medicine services. They should be able to maintain
good quality control of radiographs. They should have sound knowledge
of radiation protection in the department of radiodiagnosis, radiotherapy
and nuclear medicine. They should have good knowledge of the newer imaging
modalities including C.T., MRI, and ultrasound.
Expected career for B.
Sc. RT.
- Radiogical technologist/ and quality controller in medical institute/
hospitals.
- Personel incharge of handling ionizing radiation.
- Educator at college for the training of radiographers and radiological
technologists.
Admission criteria
PCL in Radiography from IOM or equivalent from other Universities recognized
by T.U.
Or
10+2 (Biology Group) or I.Sc. (Biology Group) from T.U. or equivalent
from other recognised universities.
